APT groups aligned with Russia topped the list of attack sources, according to ESET, at 33% of tracked attacks. China-aligned threat actors account for 25% of attack sources, while APT groups aligned with Iran (14%), North Korea (13%), and other Middle Eastern countries (7%) comprise the top five.
Government agencies were the mainstays throughout Europe, Asia, the Middle East, and the Americas. Other notable verticals under increased pressure have been energy and defense companies in Europe, engineering and manufacturing industries in Asia and the Middle East, and education, healthcare, and retail companies in the Americas.
