From Jonathan Birch on Twitter:
What are your favorite non-violent movies? I don’t mean romcoms, I mean movies that somehow exemplify or explore the concept of non-violence.
Sorry, but Gandhi it doesn’t work for me. What comes to mind is the old Bruce Dern movie Silent Running. Or how about Babette’s Festival? LLMs generally cough up political movies. Is it crazy to suggest Vincent Ward’s Map of the Human Heart, which is admittedly a sad work too? Terence Malick’s The Tree of Life is a natural choice, but somehow it never registered with me. Bergman’s Smiles of a Summer Night is in contention.
