That’s a newly translated Brazilian novel by Itamar Vieira Junior, set in Bahia. It’s best to read this one without any spoilers. And I am happy to announce that we have another great novel from Latin America (and Brazil), worthy of entering the canon.
I’ve never seen a good book review, as no one seems to care. I liked this NYRoB (gated) review. Plus on the plus side, the book is also short and easy to read.
