The subtitle is How Money and Markets Really Work. I am a huge fan of Kyla Scanlon (see link to her other work), who is a force of nature. He graduated from Western Kentucky University in 2019, and has a fresh and effective way of speaking. I started learning about him through his explainer videos, and it turns out he does it almost every day.
Apart from being very well done, this economic book has two notable features. First, it suggests Kyla’s view of “vibration” as an important determinant of economic activity. I use the older (and less vibey) term “cultural contagion,” but in any case I see this as an overlooked and under-analyzed set of forces, including the economic realm.
Second, this is the first popular economics book I’ve seen that takes the year 2024 seriously. Imagine training the “big human language” on what people are talking about and worrying about today, and freeing that person to write an economics book. This is what you would get. It is a good and accurate shock to those who have trained their memories on a weighted scale of the very distant past.
As an aside, here are some of Kyla’s favorite poems. Why are there no major MSM profiles of him?
