“As more AI models are developed and more organizations are involved, it is important that they include legal safeguards in their operations,” Jain said. “This changes the legal responsibility to the model provider. While this may slow down innovation, it ensures that companies are also responsible for compliance, which may prevent smaller players from entering the market.”
Businesses will be forced to regularly test AI models to ensure compliance with data protection laws, said Thomas George, President of Cybermedia Research.
“Financially, businesses should consider setting aside reserves to cover potential compliance-related costs, minimizing the impact of any sudden changes required to AI models,” George said. “Practically, investing in ongoing training and development of technical teams to stay up-to-date on the latest compliance requirements will make it easier to adapt AI systems when needed.”
