These are, of course, more and more jobs with “ethical hacker” or “penetration testing” or similar in their title, which are very attractive but also rare. In fact, even network and security managers and analysts who do not perform full-time penetration testing can benefit from the CEH agreement, as they may find it useful to assess the security of their organization’s infrastructure through the eyes of a hacker.
CEH Salary
Also, it’s hard to show a direct correlation between someone getting a CEH certification and a raise. But it is clear that many of the jobs associated with CEH owners pay well. As of 2024, ZipRecruiter puts the average US salary for a software engineer at about $135,269 per year.
But what about the certificate itself? The InfoSec Institute estimates that the average salary of CEH holders from various sources ranges from $96,580 and $107,577, with entry-level hackers earning $72,000 and experienced ethical hackers earning over $200,000.
