Did hackers steal 33TB of data from the Federal Reserve?

A great hack, if confirmed

If confirmed, the Federal Reserve breach could turn out to be one of the biggest bank hacks in US history. As the nation’s central banking system, the Federal Reserve operates twelve banking districts, home to major cities such as Boston, New York, Dallas, Chicago, and San Francisco.

While the Federal Reserve has yet to issue a statement on the claim, LockBit commented on the apparently ongoing negotiations between the parties. “You better hire another negotiator within 48 hours, and fire this idiot who is giving away the bank secrets of the American people for $50,000,” the LockBit post said, noting the hack contained “33 terabytes of sugary banking information containing the secrets of American banks .”

“It’s rare for a ransomware group, like LockBit, to talk publicly about discussing ransomware,” said John Bambenek, president of Bambenek Consulting, a cybersecurity consulting firm.
