Based on the origin of the analyzed samples, the study concluded that the campaign is mainly targeting the US, Germany, and Russia.

Malware nest for maximum impact

“In this operation, our threat intelligence team observed what appears to be an obvious course of action to follow when trying to maximize profits in a malware distribution campaign,” Garcia said. “It stands to reason that if one malware infection is successful, other malware infections with similar characteristics should also be successful.”

These types of infections are usually done by infecting a target with a loader, RAT, or backdoor and releasing several types of malware, such as hackers, cryptominers, or ransomware.
