CrowdStrike agreed to release a malicious software update, which caused many Windows machines running the affected software to crash. The problem, apparently affecting its Falcon platform, brought down servers on planes, shut down computers in banks, and damaged health services.
“CrowdStrike is actively working with customers who were affected by a bug found in a single content update for Windows hosts,” the company said Friday in a blog post titled “Windows Sensor Update Statement.”
The Mac and Linux versions of the software are not affected, and the incident was not the result of a cyberattack, it said.
