Adaptive Shield, a leader in SaaS Security, today announced its successful Identity Threat Detection & Response (ITDR) platform for SaaS environments. Since entering this space last year, the company has already become a leader in the field, deploying the solution in hundreds of business customer locations.
Adaptive Shield will showcase its new ITDR platform and award-winning technology at booth #1268 during Black Hat USA, from August 7-8, 2024, demonstrating its capabilities with use cases for complex threat detection and field detection campaigns.
The recent Snowflake breach served as a wake-up call for the SaaS industry. On May 27, the threat group announced the sale of 560 million stolen records in a targeted user authentication attack on Snowflake. The event, which continues to make headlines, follows a series of notable breaches of SaaS applications in recent months.
“The Snowflake breach is a classic example of a SaaS security event that could have been prevented or, if not, detected. Organizations should be aware of the shared SaaS security responsibility model, where SaaS vendors provide traditional security controls, but ultimately it is the responsibility of the organization to ensure that these controls are implemented ,” said Maor Bin, founder and CEO of Adaptive Shield. “Major incidents like these can be easily avoided with proper monitoring and enforcement tools. In addition to prevention, SaaS security has the ability to detect and respond to SaaS applications. it would identify Indicators of Compromise (IoCs) and stop the attack in place.”
ITDR’s Adaptive Shield platform works closely with the company’s SaaS Security Posture Management (SSPM) prevention platform and enables businesses to proactively block a wide range of attacks within the SaaS ecosystem. Identity-based threats can come from poorly configured settings, human and non-human identities, and compromised SaaS user devices. These threats manifest in various forms, such as account takeover, unintended publicly available links, malicious applications, and more. Complex real-life campaigns experienced by Adaptive Shield customers include:
- It threatens actors who take credentials from the payroll system and HR management and change the employee’s bank account details to transfer their salary to a different account.
- A less-than-sane former employee accessed and downloaded highly sensitive data. This happened due to poor configuration within a very complex operating platform.
- Combined movement detection from a disabled MFA demo account to production via OAuth, like a malicious app, directly to employee mailboxes.
- Access to public links in CRM, intended for data sharing. Although these public links were password protected, had expiration dates, and usage tracking, they were still accessible to unauthorized users.
- Account hijacking through compromised user devices.
“ITDR’s current solutions primarily address storage and Active Directory protection, but do not cover the complex SaaS environment. Addressing SaaS-related threats requires deep expertise and can only be accomplished by cross-referencing and analyzing suspicious events in context from multiple sources, ensuring accurate detection of privacy-focused threats,” said Gilad Walden, VP Product at Adaptive Shield.
Adaptive Shield includes more than 160 applications out of the box, allowing customers to connect their entire stack and achieve accurate warning of Indicators of Compromise (IoCs), significantly eliminating false positives.
