At one point, Microsoft developed a custom version of Windows 10 to be compatible and respond to the Chinese government’s concerns. There have been rumors that Microsoft has been slowly moving AI researchers from China to Canada, but it’s unclear if that’s exactly what’s happening.

But what about the other technology and hardware you have in your company? From switches to routers, to Wi-Fi adapters, all devices have software at their core. Contact your vendors and review where their key codes and support staff are located. Ensure that your company has an approved list of hardware and an approval process in place to safely acquire and deploy software throughout your organization.
In this day and age of ransomware attacks, I’d argue it’s the only key tool you have to make sure there aren’t stealthy attackers lurking on your network to scan unusual outgoing Internet traffic. Be sure to install additional software on both your Windows and Linux devices to help you investigate unusual traffic. For Windows products in particular, Sysmon for Windows is specially designed to monitor process creation, network connections, and changes in file creation times.
