Daylight Computer – Marginal REVOLUTION

I am happy and honored to be sending you a copy of Daylight Computer.

It performs the same functions as the iPad and Kindle, but with improvements.

My first miracle was to show that I can work this thing. It doesn’t require any more expertise than you need to use your current devices, no doubt a little.

Here’s Dwarkesh’s review, and here’s @patio11’s review. Both are consistent with my impressions, but Patrick McKenzie’s usage is closer to mine. I’ve been looking for a Kindle upgrade for a long time, and this is it. The Kindle Fire was not.

This seems to be the best general learning tool ever invented by humans. Compared to the Kindle, the page is much larger, the color selection is great, scrolling is easy, and it takes a lot of the “does this sound like reading a book?” vision than you ever did. It can also treat all types of blindness and sunlight problems.

It can connect to a wireless system more easily and efficiently than a Kindle – have you ever had that problem in your hotel room? The hotel makes you fill in extra fields, and the Kindle interface isn’t well suited for that.

Daylight Computer just seems to be well thought out.

I am also told that the AI function will make it possible to ask verses at will, and easily, but without leaving your reading window. This still doesn’t work in my demo version, but it will be a big improvement.

So I will continue to use this device and I will go with it.

There are a bunch of other associated benefits, something about being able to use other things like an iPad, but without the full disruption of the Internet (see Dwarkesh’s review). That doesn’t fit my planned usage habits, but it could be a huge benefit to many.
