Thank you to those who have donated so far for your prompt and generous donations! Your generous support makes our work possible!
Our next goal, as we explain more fully below, is to continue our daily extended links. Many of you tell us how you start the day, and for those outside of American time zones, it’s often a big and in many cases a new primary source. So help us keep this valuable asset up to your highest standards!
We have 421 donations, so we are aiming for a fundraiser of 1100 donors. We are also receiving a higher number of first-time donors than in previous years, some of whom have made substantial contributions. This is a very encouraging sign for the long-term health of this business.
The downside is that the total number of donations during this period is slightly behind the level of some previous years. We know that a number of our loyal readers and supporters will still be coming in. So, please, if you have a few free minutes, visit the Tip Jar and help keep this community in good shape.
We also appreciate support messages like this from Cassandra:
I am sending $100 to support your work, which I greatly appreciate. I wish it was more. It is very difficult to see the truth in the midst of constantly changing stories; gathering your data from multiple angles is an important part of my daily effort to understand the world. In the midst of endless gaslighting, it is comforting to read some words that say, “Yes, I see it, too.”
With deep appreciation to you, Lambert, and the team.
And from the common like The Rev Kev:
I have now made a donation to NC via PayPal. It’s hard to imagine what the internet would be like without Naked Capitalism as independent media lights are being turned off everywhere. Of course, it can be very difficult to go through all the dumpsters and take out the garbage articles. And life is too short to try to solve all those things but Naked Capitalism does a great job of bringing many articles and posts all in one place for your enjoyment.
And Keith H:
The check is for $250 this time. I would certainly be lost without NakedCapitalism. Thank you for your tireless work, and all the efforts of the awesome NC team.
The main advantage of daily links, is that we introduce readers to other sites and voices. Reply from Debbie G:
Check $50.00 in the mail. (I wish it could be more)
Thanks for all you do and the whole team. I’ve learned a lot from you and other “bloggers” and been introduced to people I wouldn’t have “met” otherwise – like Michael Hudson, the Duran Boys, Jeffrey Sachs, John Mersheimer, Aaron Mate/Max Blumenthal, Alastair Crooke and the list goes on….. .
With thanks.
More importantly, we hit our first two goals well. The first was $25,000 to provide additional technology investment for the site. We have had to invest heavily here in recent years due to a hostile external environment, including moving our main servers and backups to the US. So good of you for helping us support common but very important budget items. This is our foundation for all the content we provide. The second was $22,000 to sponsor the comments section. Again. The prompt contributions show how much you value those lively and informative discussions, just as much as we value eagle-eyed reactions to our posts (including typo warnings and link corrections!).
But these are only our first goals. If you haven’t had time to donate yet, we hope you’ll go to our Tip Jar pronto, which shows you how to donate by check, debit or credit card or PayPal.
Our next goal is $27,000 to continue our extended links phase.
I don’t want to overpromise, but I will be in New York City at the end of October. We can hold a meeting and IF students can find a place with an outdoor space that we can control. Even if you try to keep as much mixing and mingling out as possible, yours will almost always be hidden. I’m concerned about whether we can minimize the risk of infection while making sure the place gets enough drink orders to enjoy our work.
After the current target: at 3 AM EDT, we are already $2,115 from that target.
As we explained in our first post, we have increased our link category from the pre-Covid average of 45 to 55 to 60 now. This may not seem like a lot, but it represents the daily commitment of more employees. , such as the continued increase in site management, which means more budget requirements.
On top of that, largely because of Lambert and Conor’s interest in finding a non-MSM source, we have more diversity in content and opinion (especially from abroad) than ever before. So it takes more effort to give your morning guide on what’s going on.
So for those of you who are already donating, thank you again for your kind support, and we look forward to those NC fans who have recently found fundraising through the Tip Jar to help make the site more successful.
