Thanks to the generosity of more than 600 members of the Naked Capitalism community, we have met our first hurdle, our significant budget for IT support and defense, secondly supporting the comments section, and thirdly, funding to continue our expanded links section, at an increasing pace.
Many of you responded to our 2024 Double Your Donations challenge, which produced a significant increase. And we are happy to see even more new sponsors than in previous years. However, our dollar amount is still a little behind where we would like to be, even though the average donation amount was ahead of last year. Can regulars who haven’t donated yet pitch in a little deeper to help us meet our goals and keep this site buzzing?
Due to a miscommunication with Lambert about our last goal thermometer, it was showing a much lower value than where we actually stood. The result, after Doubling Your Donation, is that we are already at $24,675, compared to $27,000 in guest blogger funding. So it will take a little more to complete this goal and give them a big round of cash by going straight to the Tip Jar! Kind words in the comments section are also greatly appreciated.
As long-time readers know, over the years, we’ve been improving the quality of writers who contribute to Naked Capitalism. We would like to send our main pillars, Lambert, Conor, Nick, and KLG an important award from the fundraiser. and site performance that year. Each has stepped up in a big way to change the way they work, both in focus and product level, to match the pressures of many disruptive forces affecting the environment, geopolitics, finance and economy, and domestic affairs.
Where would you be without Lambert helping to keep our minds together by always wearing his yellow waders, especially in this ugly and highly publicized election and official hype about Covid (and now mpox and bird flu)? He also keeps some classic beats like permaculture, zeitgeist watch (like his review of Apple’s “Crush” ad), and some new ones like labor.
Conor has expanded the scope of Naked Capitalism, especially the well-received discussions of German politics (such as the AfD party and Sahra Wagenknecht), Turkey, Italy, and US political failures, such as how we lost the so-called war -Black Sea.
Nick continues to provide extensive international coverage, focusing on payments and banking, such as the US’s apparent disrespect for Mexico, the GMO corn ban, Miley’s debacle, the digital currency crisis in Nigeria and the rethinking of “cashless” plans in the UK after the crisis. CrowdStrike.
KLG continues to pull back the curtain on questionable practices in medical and biological research.
Although we pay our contributors to help fill this site’s regular schedule to a good standard, writing is not a very well-paid job. Our guest bloggers always do in-depth analysis quickly, but the fact that they can do so is the result of their vast experience and expertise.
