“Given the limited nature of the incident, we have not had, and do not currently believe that this incident would have a material impact on our financial condition or results of operations,” the cybersecurity giant added. The company also said it has launched an investigation and has now successfully stopped the unauthorized access.
Fortinet has yet to publicly confirm the nature and size of data breached in this incident. Emailed questions to Fortinet about the validity of Fortibitch’s ransomware claims and additional details about the breach went unanswered by the time of this article’s publication.
Failed negotiations
Fortibitch, in their request on the dark web, said they were able to access Azure SharePoint data in an open Amazon S3 bucket and are now making it all public as Fortinet rejected their ransom demands.
