A big sign of the unmanageability of the Chinese economy: In 2018, 51,302 new startups were established in China. Last year, that number dropped to 1,202.
Here is one link, which leads to others. Here is an attempt to talk down the importance of those numbers. I would say that in the beginning there were a lot more Chinese startups, partly because of the size of the government, so this change is not as bad as it sounds. It’s still bad.
