The Missing Crew

One of the most surprising facts to come out of the dock workers’ strike (now resolved, it seems):

WSJ: Start with the amazing fact that there were 50,000 or more ILA strikers but only 25,000 port jobs. Of course, about half of the union members are required to show up for work each day. The rest stay home and collect “container royalties” negotiated in previous ILA contracts meant to protect against job losses caused by innovation.

Hat tip: Scott Lincicome.
