13 Retailers Who Want to Buy Your Clutter (Even Costco Now)

You know the golden rule of eliminating waste: If you haven’t worn it or used it in a full year, it’s time to let it go.

Of course, selling such things is not always easy. There are things around your house that have a sensible price, but there are also things that were a splurge, you can’t bear the thought of throwing money away. So don’t do it.

Many dealers will buy used items from you, allowing you to recoup some of their costs.

Next buyers will give you cash or store credit for your junk – from jackets and golf clubs to books and electronics. Whether your clutter fills a large room or a small shelf, there is likely a solution for your product purchase. (But if you don’t see it below, try “8 Stores That Will Reward You for Recycling.”)

1. Amazon

Many see Amazon as the best place to sell things online. Categories eligible for the Amazon Trade-In program include:

  • Amazon devices
  • Mobile phones
  • Streaming media players
  • Home security devices
  • Wireless routers
  • Games

Visit the Amazon Trade-In webpage and click on the type of item you want to trade in to find out how much Amazon can offer you.

If you proceed with the transaction, Amazon will pay you with an Amazon gift card. In some cases, you will receive an immediate payment. In some cases, Amazon will give you a gift card after you receive and rate your item.

Unless you live near an Amazon store that accepts trade-ins, you’ll have to collect and ship your items to Amazon to trade them in, but there are no fees. Amazon will provide you with a prepaid shipping label.
