From list to graph protection

The company is also looking at ways to help businesses protect their systems with tools like Microsoft Security Exposure Management, which is now generally available.

This aims to transform security through graph-based state management rather than list-based security, mapping the changing relationships between underlying assets such as identities, credentials, permissions, files, devices, and other connections across businesses.

“Traditional risk management is no longer sufficient,” said Brjann Brekkan, Microsoft’s director of product marketing for security posture and exposure management, in a statement shared with CSOonline. “Although patching all the weaknesses may seem like a solution, it is not working and it is not working. Instead, modern security strategies must focus on exposing the easiest for attackers to exploit, prioritizing the vulnerabilities that pose the greatest risk.”
