There is also a defensive testing angle as security teams are using next gen AI to create attack scenarios – essentially stress testing their systems by making the AI think like an attacker. This approach is a long way off, but “it can help organizations see blind spots that your red team might miss,” says Woollven.
Agent AI on the horizon
Even though the cases of using gen AI are increasing at a rapid pace, some experts are looking to the further development of artificial intelligence technology, such as agent AI, as the next phase of deploying AI against security threats.
“Agent AI takes the results of productive AI, such as alert data collection and integration, and makes it actionable, autonomously managing and mitigating threats in real time,” said Joe Partlow, CTO at threat intelligence firm ReliaQuest. “Its speed, accuracy, and efficiency lead to faster threat detection and response.”
