CISOs often encounter inherent conflicts with their business counterparts in their day-to-day operations. In many ways, this is a form of setting an organization’s security policies. But the goal of CISOs should be to reset this dynamic and build a strong, collaborative alliance with their key leadership colleagues.
Take the CFO, for example. For many CISOs, a call from the CFO often signals bad news – perhaps impending budget cuts due to business challenges. In some businesses, the CIO reports directly to the CFO and has developed more experience navigating the CFO’s perspective – not so for the CISO.
At a recent CFO and CISO ADAPT Alliance event, Dipak Golencha, global CFO of Palo Alto Networks, emphasized how important it is for these two executives to learn to speak the same language.
