Cisco hosts SnapAttack for threat detection

Cisco is acquiring threat detection firm SnapAttack for an undisclosed amount as it continues to expand its security portfolio.

Founded in 2001 by Booz Allen’s Dark Labs, SnapAttack is known for its threat detection and engineering expertise, which includes threat intelligence, attack simulation, and behavioral analysis to help customers identify potential vulnerabilities and gaps in their networks, before problems arise.

“SnapAttack provides a solution that supports the full lifecycle of content detection, starting with selective content detection that prioritizes current threat activity, potential impact and other factors, to ongoing verification, testing and evaluation of deployed content,” wrote Mike Horn, senior vice president and general manager. of the Cisco Splunk Security business, blogged about the acquisition.
