“…women, they spend a lot of time on what’s going on in Hollywood”

That’s a quote from Eric Hovde, a Wisconsin senatorial candidate (WCPT820 Radio), who despairs over Americans’ lack of civic engagement. Full quote:

“I’d like to say, sadly, women, too, spend a lot of time with what’s happening in Hollywood. And with men, they are more involved in sports. And now it’s not just sports, but fantasy sports.”

I think Mr. Hovde’s main criticism refers to doing these activities while watching TV (I suspect he is right about exercise). Here is the pre-pandemic data.

I have no idea about whether we spend a lot of money on any activity. Personally, in watching TV, I’m probably at the top of my class.
