****** Acute and chronic respiratory complications after SARS-CoV-2 infection: a population-based cohort study in South Korea and Japan Nature. N = clusters based on national search. From the Abstract: “The risk of severe respiratory complications or post-acute respiratory complications is significantly increased in people with SARS-CoV-2 infection compared to the general population…. [W]Although the risk of post-mortem illness decreased over time following SARS-CoV-2 infection, it persisted more than 6 months after infection.”
Three-year outcomes of post-acute sequelae of COVID-19 Nature. From the Abstract: “Here we created a cohort of 135,161 individuals with SARS-CoV-2 infection and 5,206,835 controls from the US Department of Veterans Affairs who were followed for 3 years to estimate the risk of death and PASC.” And Discussion: “overall, our findings show a reduction in risks during the 3-year follow-up but continued increased risks of major adverse outcomes among the hospitalized population.” Comment:
The big revelation here is that the risk persists for 3 years in several organ systems (eg GI and nervous system) even 3 years after a mild infection.

Politico is guilty on all counts. The headline is deceiving. Trump was convicted on all counts of corporate records, which are misdemeanors. However, Merchan framed the judge’s instructions in such a way that we did not Find out what three “factor crimes” Trump was guilty of: campaign finance violations, paying a wife, or tax violations where the government makes money. These are the charges that raised the corporate record charges, but we don’t know which of these charges Trump was convicted of. It seems to me that the voters would and should want to know what the intent of the crime was – and that giving the voters that information would be vital to a functioning democracy – but Merchan withheld that information. “Our law,” “our democracy!”
The Hush-money case was Trump’s to lose. Here’s why he made the BBC
The prosecution used careful documents to show the business records were false, but Randall Eliason, a professor at George Washington University Law School, told the BBC.
Trump’s team did not focus on strengthening these weaknesses, although in his briefing, Mr. Blanche gave the judge a list of reasons for reasonable doubt. Instead, they argued that the main events of the case never happened, or that the witnesses had lied.
From the report, this is correct. More hits on Cohen; nothing attacked the structure of the case. Caveat that the reporting was intimidating, and the proper documentation has not yet appeared.
