CDK Global, a provider of a software platform for car dealerships, had to shut down many of its systems due to what it described as a “cyber incident.” This has had serious consequences for car dealers in the US, with reports saying that thousands of dealerships there were paralyzed for several hours on Wednesday.
Among other things, CDK provides a sales platform. It says about 15,000 US car dealers are among its customers.
For security reasons, the company shut down all systems Wednesday morning, a company spokesperson said, adding that its vendor management system and digital marketing solutions were restored later in the day.
