Readers, I wasn’t planning on the Water Cooler today, but suddenly my timeline was covered with the phrase “no worries about what has been.” Left, right, center, all sides can be “burdened by what was.”

Here’s the background, and I might be dealing with this issue now:

(I’ve made it my rule never to cite a DNC or RNC “study,” but I’m breaking this once. I think they’re not pretending because they don’t have to.)

• But tonight I say, we must go forward, not backward; up, not forward; and always tossing, tossing, tossing and turning towards freedom.

• I, as a leader, will use power like a drum, and leadership like a violin. Get rid of any idea. Compare ideas, with one idea left we have no doubts and without a doubt we have enthusiasm!

Time to throw another doll at the barbie.

Plant contact details: Readers, feel free to contact me at lambert [UNDERSCORE] Strether [DOT] corrente [AT] yahoo [DOT] com, to (a) find out how to send me a check if you’re sick of PayPal and (b) to find out how to send pictures of plants. Vegetables are good! Fungi, algae, and corals are considered venerable plants! If you want your handle to appear as a credit, please put it at the beginning of your mail in brackets: (as such). If not, I will hide them by using your initials. Check out the previous Water Cooler (with a plant) here. Response from Upstater:

Upstater writes: “It’s that time of year! These are Japanese irises, rhizomes from a neighbor long gone, but a reminder of friendship.”

Students: Water Cooler is an independent business not is put together by NC’s annual fundraiser. So if you see a link you particularly like, or something you can’t see anywhere else, please don’t hesitate to express your appreciation in a tangible way. Remember, a tip is a tip! A generally positive response both makes me feel good and lets me know I’m on the right track with coverage. If I don’t get donations for three or four days I get worried. Obviously, ongoing donations help me with expenses, and I include that trick when I set fundraising goals:

Here is the screen that will appear, which I have helpfully explained:

If you hate PayPal, you can email me at lambert [UNDERSCORE] Strether [DOT] corrente [AT] yahoo [DOT] com, and I’ll give you directions on how to send a check. Thank you!
