Bangladesh’s president on Tuesday appointed Muhammad Yunus, a microfinance pioneer and Nobel laureate, to head an interim government, meet the demands of protesters and give the violence-torn country a boost.
Plans to form a new government were announced a day after Bangladesh’s veteran leader, Sheikh Hasina, resigned and fled the country amid a coup.
