“AMD’s decision to exclude older processors from the ‘Sinkclose’ vulnerability zone is a risk that damages customer trust and brand loyalty,” said Arjun Chauhan, senior analyst at Everest Group. “Businesses using these popular chips may feel neglected, leading to dissatisfaction and potentially driving them to consider competitors that offer a longer support lifecycle.”
Notably, AMD’s recently released Ryzen 9000 and Ryzen AI 300 series processors were not included in the list of updates, although it is believed that these types may be vulnerable to the factory.
For users of older AMD processors, the company recommends taking the usual security measures, although the absence of a patch may leave some systems more exposed to potential threats. Despite the complex nature of the “Sinkclose” exploit, which often requires access to the system kernel and is often associated with state-sponsored hackers, users are advised to remain vigilant.
