In front of a small audience, he vowed to run the city of Cheyenne solely through an AI bot he called “VIC” for “Virtual Integrated Citizen.”
…Standing behind a lectern with an “AI FOR MAYOR” sign, he gave a short PowerPoint presentation on the history of AI. He then stepped aside to hand down his Mac mini and iPad – which were placed on a table and connected to a speaker hanging at the front of the room – and told the audience to direct questions to the screen.
“Is the computer system in city hall adequate to handle AI?” another attendee, holding a wireless microphone in his seat, asked VIC.
“If you are elected, can you reduce the salary?” someone wanted to know…
In the middle of an interview with The Post, Miller promised to let the bot answer. VIC, in his robotic tone, answered questions about garbage day in Cheyenne, voter registration and the current president of the United States.
VIC said it would oppose the ban on the books — which some Cheyenne schools do — citing their “educational value.” “But,” added the bot, “let’s create a process to ensure a balanced approach.”
