Women in cybersecurity statistics
ISC2, a non-profit organization that provides training and certification for cybersecurity professionals, estimates that women represent 20% to 25% of the global cybersecurity workforce. According to its April survey of 2,400 women in infosec, on average only 23% of cybersecurity teams are women, and 11% of survey respondents said they have no other women on their security teams.
Other findings: Female respondents earn about 5% less than their male counterparts, with an average salary of US$109,609 compared to US$115,003 for men – a wage gap despite the fact that female respondents have higher qualifications (master’s degree and doctoral level) at much higher rates than men , while they hold cybersecurity certificates in equal amounts.
