Bloomberg: Moral is among a growing number of Dutch people struggling to find a place to rent after a new law designed to make homes more affordable ended up exacerbating the housing shortage. Aiming to protect low-income tenants, the government in July imposed rent controls on thousands of homes, introducing a property rating system based on factors such as condition, size and energy efficiency. The Affordable Rent Act introduced rent controls on 300,000 units, taking them out of the deregulated market.
The Affordable Rent Act reminds me of anything called a Democratic People’s Republic, only you know it isn’t.
Addendum: Yes, Einstein’s statement is false. Today, I’m in the mood and I don’t care.
