Strawberry alarm clock! – Sideline REVOLUTION

Deep Prasad writes:

OpenAI recently released intelligent AI as many PhDs in physics, mathematics and life sciences. Wake up. The world will never be the same and in many ways, it won’t be seen ten years from now.

McKay Wrigley is enthusiastic:

o1’s ability to think, plan, and execute is off the charts.

Ethan Mollick says:

Many milestones have been passed by AI today. A gold medal in the Math Olympiad among them.

Like Ethan, however, I agree that the model is not that good for most non-thinking tasks. Ethan also notes that the AGI will be rough and uneven.

Subbarao guesses how it works. Here is another guy who says a lot of things. And yet more comments.

Whatever you think of those particular claims, there’s plenty of room, like in John Lennon’s “Strawberry Fields Forever” demo, to get better at the moment. First, it can think for a long time yet! All new doors have opened, and if you read the lukewarm comments, that’s probably what one doesn’t understand. They are people who think “…if they can do it this…” are the most successful at predicting the course of AI.

Sheetal Shah says:

This is actually a game changer and a step change. It takes us out of the slow progression of paychecks and training tokens to an open world where time is the only limit.

I would love to have one of these (with some modifications) as my agent.

Taelin says AGI has been achieved. Here’s the closest Gary Marcus will ever get to eating crow. Here is how I would go about OpenAI.

Meanwhile, the situation of people who make energy policy because of the increase.

Brian Chau recommends it by looking at quotes.

“Model this!”, he asked about the new fruit. That’s Benjamin Manning, an economics graduate student at MIT. He got his wish.

Is it “It’s happening!”, or rather “It’s already happened!”?

Here’s another Strawberry Alarm Clock song, sadly no one got the reference the first time around. From the album “Wake Up, Tomorrow”…

Addendum: For context and background, my previous two introductions are here and here.
