In an increasingly uncertain world, with internal risks and external social, economic and political threats to organizational development and future automation, CSOs have been using strategies to prepare for uncertain times. Ransomware, data breaches and fraud are not slowing down, and cyber insecurity and misinformation and disinformation are the top and fourth risks, respectively, in the next two years as predicted in the World Economic Forum’s Global Risks Report 2024.
The attack landscape is becoming more complex with the increasing adoption of cloud and artificial intelligence (AI), and thanks to generative AI (genAI) and IoT connectivity. Cybercriminals are already targeting traditional software and services for their return on investment. Critical infrastructure continues to be targeted as all city networks, emergency networks, water treatment facilities and electricity services are disrupted amid the country’s tension.
Ultimately, preparing for the next big threat involves focusing on cyber resilience, because there are no silver bullets in the cyber world. Accepting the hard reality and inevitability of violations constitutes a holistic approach to developing and maintaining resilience. Strengthening network resilience will be a key part of every enterprise’s security strategy and includes several strategies including integrated protection, analytical monitoring and adaptive responses.
