The dataset contains sensitive information for these employees, including the Employee ID, the employee’s full name, the employee’s status, and the Employee’s internal ID, which Grep added to the post.
Two attacks in one week
A few days later, Grep posted about a second “significant” breach regarding the stolen 3.5 GB of data from Dell, this time claiming a breach of contract in collaboration with fellow hacker “Chucky”. Grep called the previous attack “petty”.
“With more than 10,000 employee records reportedly exposed, including names, employee IDs, and internal identifiers, this incident highlights the potential risks to established technology companies,” said Stephen Kowski, Pleasanton’s chief technology officer. “While Dell has not confirmed a breach, the leaked data could be used by threat actors for targeted phishing attempts or social engineering attacks, especially given the latest trends in cybercrime tactics.”
