Cato Networks today introduced digital experience monitoring (DEM) capabilities that will supplement the company’s SASE cloud platform with the application traffic and network performance data IT operations teams need to improve the end-user experience.
Cato DEM extends Cato’s capabilities beyond the standard secure access service (SASE) platform by monitoring and analyzing data across application and network traffic. DEM supplements Cato Cloud SASE with insights to improve application performance for end users and customers, in addition to network and security data covering the platform. Cato previously added extended detection and response (XDR) capabilities and an endpoint protection platform (EPP) to its cloud-based SASE solution.
“We see DEM as an important part of the future SASE landscape, but only with the right platform,” said Shamus McGillicuddy, vice president of research at Enterprise Management Associates (EMA), in a statement. “User experience is the main currency of IT performance evaluation, and building a DEM in the right SASE environment will help ensure a good user experience. But to achieve that goal, the SASE platform must provide visibility into all applications, provide ways to fix user experience issues with those applications, and have real user traffic data for accurate analysis.
