“Sanctions will have short-term consequences for Intel,” said Pareekh Jain, CEO of Pareekh Consulting. “But while competitors like AMD may see some early advantage, they will eventually be targeted as well. The medium-term goal seems to be to strengthen China’s domestic chip industry.”
Speculating on Chinese companies
China has been seeking independence in the semiconductor sector, recently urging domestic automakers such as SAIC Motor, BYD, Dongfeng Motor, GAC Motor, and FAW Group to increase their supply of auto-related chips from domestic suppliers.
“Chinese companies like Huawei and Alibaba are accelerating their investments in semiconductor technology,” George said. “Despite these ambitions, the readiness and ability of domestic alternatives to complement Intel’s offerings remains uncertain.”
