Saudi Arabia is preparing to start construction on its next giga project: a cube-like building big enough to fit 20 State Buildings.
The Mukaab will be 400 meters on each side when completed, making it the largest building ever built in the world. The building will be the center of New Murabba, a community that the country hopes will be a new area within the capital city of Riyadh.
“It looks like a building today but it’s much bigger,” Michael Dyke, New Murabba’s chief executive, said in an interview. “Finally, a capital city the size of Riyadh deserves to have a global, central image like other major cities do.”
